OnePlus announced the launch of a 5G ready-made smartphone in 2019. The company expects OnePlus 7 to be the first 5G smart phone ready to use. But it seems the company has special plans for the smartphone. A spokesman from the company recently said that 5G will mark the beginning of the new smartphone lineup from OnePlus.
OnePlus launches 5G smartphones in the first half of 2019. This means that the company will show off cellphones or prototypes at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. One big change we expect from OnePlus stability is the price. The company has increased the base price of its smartphones for years. With 5G being a trending new feature, consumers expect that OnePlus will provide an affordable price from its new 5G smartphone.
Huawei is one of the biggest supporters of 5G technology. This company is probably the biggest names in terms of developing 5G network equipment and chips, with hundreds of engineers dedicated to these efforts. Huawei is working to commercialize the first 5G smartphone and it is said the company plans to make the smartphone available to the public in the first half of 2019. Speculation circulating on the internet suspect the smartphone is Huawei Mate 30.
The 5G mobile hotspot device is expected to be launched in Q2 in 2019. Huawei has also conducted a 5G trial in India, in partnership with Airtel. Huawei and Bharti Airtel successfully tested 5G networks under trial in India. During the trial, speeds over 3Gbps were reached.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 confirmed bringing support for the 5G network. Xiaomi Company’s President Lei Jun recently shared pictures on Weibo from the Mi Mix 3 unit running on the 5G network. The intended Mi Mix 3 is expected to be supported by the next generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset that supports 5G networks. In addition, the ready-to-use Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G can also carry 10GB of RAM. Expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2019.
In February, Qualcomm announced that they had partnered with 18 OEMs, including HMD Global, the Nokia mobile phone company, to launch a ready-to-use 5G phone in 2019. 5G smartphones from Nokia will run with Qualcomm X50 5G modems. In the X50 5G demo modem, Qualcomm is able to make a 5G connection with download speeds greater than gigabits per second. Currently not known much about which Nokia phones will get 5G support first. But it is known that Nokia is testing the technology internally.
Vivo also recently installed a Qualcomm X50 modem on a Nex S. smartphone. According to Vivo, this test completed the first phase of the protocol. The company now needs to develop an actual 5G smartphone and says its goal is to launch the first batch of commercial 5G devices by 2019. According to the company, China Mobile and Qualcomm have become the main partners in launching 5G so that China can become the first country to get a 5G phone.
Vivo’s siblings company, Oppo, also completed a 5G test using a Qualcomm X50 modem on the modification unit of the Oppo R15 smartphone. Oppo is also reportedly planning to release a 5G smartphone in 2019.
HTC has not given up on the smartphone business. Although the company has reduced staff, according to Senior RF designer Kevin Duo, HTC also took samples of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and ready-to-use Snapdragon X50 5G modems. This means that the company has the opportunity to launch a 5G smartphone also in 2019.
Lenovo and Moto
Lenovo Vice-President Chang Cheng recently claimed that the company was ahead of others in 5G technology. The executive has claimed on China’s micro-blogging website, Weibo that the world’s first 5G phone will come from Lenovo’s home and will be supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. If Lenovo prepares a 5G smartphone, it can be assumed that Moto also works on 5G devices. In fact, the Moto Mod 5G with the default Snapdragon X50 5G modem has been successfully tested. However, observers strongly doubt the two companies will be the first to bring 5G technology to the market.
Samsung Galaxy S10
One of the hottest and most talked about smartphones today is the Samsung Galaxy S10. It is rumored that the Galaxy S10 will get a special 5G variant in 2019. Samsung has announced the new Exynos Modem 5100, called the first industrial 5G modem that is fully compatible with the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) release 15. Samsung is expected to launch four smartphones on the tenth anniversary of the Galaxy S. series devices. Three of these smartphones are expected to be launched in February-March, while the third with 5G is launched at a later stage.
LG is also on the list of Qualcomm partners to launch the 5G smartphone. This device is expected to be inaugurated in the US in the first half of 2019.
